For pristine rural sites, placement and setting in the natural environment are paramount concepts that are fully developed with intimate knowledge of proposed building sites. Time and effort are expended at the outset of the site planning stages to ensure that the overall development will be well integrated into its surroundings in both a physical and cultural sense.
Sensitivity to existing features and an awareness of the surrounding topography provide clues to final building placement. Building material choices take their cues from locally available natural resources of stone and wood while detailing takes into account both client and material needs in a way that provides for complementary and expressive building forms.
