Chilliwack Mountain Residence

Owners of a small rancher nestled into the trees above the Fraser River yearned for a home that capitalized on the views from the site and provided comfortable space from which to experience life on the mountain. The small, non-descript cabin was enveloped by a strong, clean Architectural element- a stylized tree. This tree’s broad canopy allows light through its branches into the inner reaches of the house. It also serves as open, vertical circulation within.

A gracious, expansive entry is now discernible upon approach to the residence. Enlarged entertaining areas are accented and highlighted by unusual modeling of the interior walls and cabinetry.

The Master Bedroom suite is accessed on the Upper Floor by a singular staircase that rises into the canopy’s branches.Views from here look back to the mountain’s rising foliage and gaze forward to an ever changing tapestry of the Fraser River, distant mountains and cloud shadows playing across the valley floor.
