Built in 1929 the now 80 year old Chilliwack Central Elementary School desperately needed structural upgrades to meet current safety and seismic regulations. CHPA was hired as a consultant to oversee the architectural aspects of the project. The 6 million dollar project began in the summer of 2008 and was completed on budget and ahead of schedule in the summer of 2009.
The project included:
-complete seismic upgrade from footing to roof
-basement refurbishing to a community centre
-refinishing of exposed structure
-repainting of all interior surfaces
-renovating the existing staff kitchen to provide proper amenities
-renovating the existing library
-repainting the gym walls
-renovating the gym wing washrooms
